The accident took place Saturday between Jacksonville and New Summerfield

NEW SUMMERFIELD —    Four people died and a large portion of Highway 79 closed for hours Saturday following a three-vehicle accident near County Road 1409, according to tentative reports confirmed by an area official.

As of 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at least one official with the Texas Department of Public Safety remained at that scene at which the accident involving a semi-truck and two vehicles occurred.

The accident took place off 79 near CR 1409 about 8 a.m. Saturday, reports show.
