An Arkansas man died Wednesday following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and U.S. Highway 175 near the northern edge of Jacksonville at around 3:15 p.m.

Officers at the scene could not reveal names associated with the wreck, but they did state a white Pontiac Montana driven by a 58-year-old Frankston woman collided with a motorcycle driven by a 48-year-old Paragould, Ark., man.

According to the police report, the motorcyclist was travelling southbound on U.S. Highway 69 as the van travelled northbound. Officers said the van’s driver made an unprotected left turn on U.S. Highway 175, failing to yield the right of way to the motorcycle. The vehicles then collided; police did not state whether the motorcycle’s driver was wearing a helmet or not.

The Arkansas man was transported to an unspecified hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead later in the afternoon. The van’s driver and her passenger were treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.

Each vehicle sustained significant damage at the accident site.

Officers stated the Montana’s driver would be charged with failure to yield right of way on a left turn.
