JACKSONVILLE — A man has been killed and another driver injured in a two-car, morning wreck on the outskirts of Jacksonville.
Jacksonville police report the accident occurred about 8:30 a.m. on Hwy 204 beween Loop 456 and 110.
The driver of a silver Chrylser 200 died at the scene and was pronounced dead by Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Brenda Dominy at approximately 9:36 a.m.
The man has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.
The other driver, who was reportedly driving a Nissan truck, was taken by Jacksonville EMS to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.
Witnesses told the Jacksonville Police Department that the driver of the truck was headed north on 204 toward Jacksonville. They report his truck swerving into the southbound lane of 204. The driver of the silver Chrysler swerved to avoid being struck but the two vehicles collided head-on and came to rest in a nearby ditch.
Jacksonville Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Jacksonville Fire Department and Jacksonville EMS were on the scene.
Southbound lanes of 204 are currently closed in that area as officers contain the scene.
