G.W. Bradford alumni from Dallas show their patriotic spirit during Rusk’s 2008 Juneteenth parade Saturday. The parade, which circled the square before heading to Connelly Park for the 70th annual Bradford reunion, featured Rusk City Councilman Walter Session as parade marshal. Also participating were Rusk police and fire departments, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, Rusk Rotary Club, several county and city elected officials, Blount Chapel Baptist Church, Shady Grove Church of God in Christ, Mt. Pleasant CME Alto Trailriders Club, the Cherokee County Brotherhood and the G.W. Bradford classes of 1969 and 1970. G.W. Bradford was Rusk’s segregated school.
