JACKSONVILLE —
The 3rd-annual Scarecrow Trail opened Saturday at the Ruth Nichols Arboretum at the Texas Forest Service, 1015 SE Loop 456.
It will be held through Oct. 25, closed Sundays. The Scarecrow Trail is free of charge weekdays, but Saturdays organizers ask $1 admission, or a canned good, to raise money and supplies for H.O.P.E.
H.O.P.E. will be selling baked goods and bottled water, with all proceeds going to the organization.
Also planned: Face-painting, a dulcimer-playing musician, dances exhibited by a gypsy caravan, mini-pumpkin painting.
Saturday's attendees get a chance to vote in the People's Choice Award, which will be presented to the winning scarecrow display at the end of the day.
