RUSK —
The Rusk Eagles were hoping that playing in front of the home fans for the first time in 2010 would change things around after the team encountered a road loss to Center in Week 0.
Unfortunately, that was not the case as Crockett (1-0) came into Eagle Stadium on Friday and stymied the Red and Black, winning by a final score of 54-6.
Dominique Wheeler turned out to be a beast for the Bulldogs, rushing for 160 yards and scoring three touchdowns to guide Crockett to victory. He scored on runs of 55, 33 and 60 yards, respectively.
Chaston Bennett had a noteworthy effort on the offensive side for Rusk, rushing 10 times for 60 yards while Montrell Sessions tacked on 53 yards on the ground as well.
Rusk hosts Gladewater, a team they beat 30-16 a year ago, next week while Crockett travels down to Coldspring. Both affairs kick off at 7:30 p.m.
