JHS offers football camp

Jacksonville High School assistant football coach Chace Woods demonstrates the proper way to handle the football to a group of running backs during last week’s Indian Football Camp. Elementary and middle school athletes received a lot of person instruction from the JHS coaches in all phases of the game.

Tribe tennis squad humbles Hallsville in loop opener
Prior to the start of Tuesday’s District 14-4 opener between Jacksonville and Hallsville, Tribe head tennis coach David Hanna said he wasn’t sure if his squad was ready for the start of league play, given the fact the team had just three non-district matches prior — the Tribe went 1-2 in those competitions.

Rusk trustees approve artificial turf for Eagle Stadium
By the end of February 2011 the Rusk Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys will have a lot in common — they will be playing football on the same type of artificial surface.
The Rusk Board of Trustees approved on Monday night a renovation project to Eagle Stadium totaling $1,389,780. -

This year’s Jacksonville Maiden cross country team is not only strong in number — the roster totals around 15 young ladies — but well structured with a nucleus of runners that take their sport serious.

JHS tennis team loses a close one to Center
On the strength of the Center girls’ play Saturday — the Lady ‘Riders swept the Maiden netters in singles play — Center was able to squeeze out a 10-9 win over Jacksonville in a non-district match that was played in Center.
