BULLARD —
The Bullard Lady Panther volleyball team probably had little trouble falling asleep Tuesday night after going five games with Arp and four against All Saints Episcopal during action in a tri-match that was held at Panther Gymnasium.
The Lady Panthers (9-10) won a marathon session against Arp 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9) before being taken down by a tough All Saints (22-5-1) club.
Final score was 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22) in favor of the Lady Trojans.
In the win over the Lady Tigers (11-14), Bullard received 17 kills from Meredith Daly (she also had four service aces) while Makenzie Fish had 11 spikes to compliment her 11 digs.
Madi Hodges added nine digs and Bri Ridgley accounted for 10 digs while leading the Lady Panthers with 18 assists.
Against the Lady Trojans, Fish paced the Bullard effort by garnering 11 kills followed by Julia Frisby with six.Bullard will be playing in the Brownsboro Tournament on Thursday and Saturday.
The Lady Panthers are scheduled to open against Fruitvale at 8 a.m. Thursday before tackling host Brownsboro at 10 a.m. and Palestine Westwood at noon.
Frankston 3 Jacksonville 2: in Frankston, the hometown girls won the battle of the Fight'n Maidens.
Frankston took Game 1 25-18, before Jacksonville evened things up with a 25-18 verdict in the second set.
Frankston took Game 3, 25-17, with Jacksonville forcing the final set by earning a 25-19 win in the Game 4.
In the finale, Frankston nipped the JHS Maidens, 17-15.
In JV play JHS won 2-0.
Jacksonville will host Palestine at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Van tops Rusk: in Van, the Lady Vandals defeated Rusk in non-district action. The Lady Eagles of head coach Stephanie Branch were coming off a first-place finish in the Gold Bracket of the Tyler Tournament over the weekend. In that tourney Shayla Townsend and Emily Price were named to the all-tournament squad.
Rusk entertains Crockett at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

After two live quarters and a pair of 10-minute running-clock periods the first Jacksonville Blue vs. White spring football scrimmage since 2004 ended in a 107-107 tie Friday night at Tomato Bowl.

The last ride of the night turned out to be the most spectacular ride of the evening Wednesday night when Austin Meier scored an 87 for his ride atop "Rainbow" in the final segment of bull riding on the opening night of the Tops In Texas PRCA Rodeo.
