COLLEGE STATION —
Tennis teams from Jacksonville college and from Texas Lutheran University (NCAA, Division III) locked horns on Saturday in men's and women's matches that were played in College Station.
The TLU men downed JC, 6-3, with the Lady Jaguars just missing out on adding a victory to the win column as the Lady Bulldog netters escaped with a 5-4 decision.
JC will play in Jacksonville for the first time in 2013 beginning at 4 p.m Friday when Louisiana College (NCAA, Division III) comes to town.
Those matches will be played at the Jacksonville High School Tennis Complex on Corinth Road.
Men
JC's Jonathan Taylor earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over TLU's Sanio Dizdarevic, while Gil Mim of JC downed Cliff Pack, 6-4, 6-3.
Taylor and Lim then joined forces to capture a 9-7 win over Schneider/Pack in men's doubles.
The JC men are 1-3 this spring.
“(The men) continue to grow and improve themselves for future matches,” Robbins said.
Women
The Lady Jags missed snaring a win by only three points.
The JC ladies won each of the three doubles matches and one singles match.
JC's Maria Coronel and Britney Sibley teamed up to win Flight One doubles by defeating Vega & Cook, 8-3.
Kaylee Hullett & Kerri Kirkpatrick of JC doubled up TLU's Herman & Abell, 8-4, in Flight Two doubles.
In the final doubles match, Kailla Parker and Caitlin Renson partnered to stop Tatsch & Lara, 8-1.
Kirkpatrick earned JC's point in singles.
She was up 7-6, 5-2 before her foe from TLU was forced to stop due to injury.
