PALESTINE —
Austin Ballew had two hits and drove in three runs to help Rusk remain undefeated in District 19-3A play.
The Eagles (6-10, 2-0 19-3A) bested Palestine, 7-4, on Tuesday evening in Palestine with Drew Walley getting the win on the hill for the Red and Black.
Walley worked six innings and struck out nine Wildcats.
Michael Crews got the final-three outs to preserve the win for Rusk.
Crews was spot on as well and chalked up two strike outs.
Jadarian Skinner led the Rusk attack by carving out three safeties. As a team, Rusk out hit Palestine (5-5-1, 0-1), 11-6.
The Eagles plated four runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to wash away what had been a 1-0 palestine lead.
The Wildcats got on the scoreboard first by pushing a lone run across in the first frame.
Rusk will step out of conference play for a 5 p.m. twin bill against Madisonville on Friday.
The Eagles have already defeated the Mustangs once this season.
