Playoff runs end for Brook Hill and New Summerfield

JACKSONVILLE — The Guard dropped a 62-60 heartbreaker to Lubbock Christian (26-8), in a TAPPS 3A game that took play in Aledo.

Grant Hanks flipped a game-high 31 points in the Guard defeat.

Brook Hill ends the year at 19-12.

At Central Heights High School, New Summerfield led for much of the game, but No. 8 San Augustine unleashed a wicked fourth-quarter press that enabled the Wolves to go on a 16-0 run and eventually dispatch the Hornets, 69-57.

The Wolves (21-6) now advance into the Class A-I, Region III tournament later this week.

Dez Randle led the Wolves with 18 points.

Austin Gray and Case Wilkerson ended up in double figures for the Hornets, dropping in 17 and 11 points, respectively.

Rayn Weaver added nine, before fouling out with just over five minutes to play in the game.
