JACKSONVILLE —
Fresh off a thrilling 9-8 win over Athens on Friday night, the Jacksonville High School softball team will be looking to get district 16-4A play started on the right tract — the winning track — when it hosts Corsicana’s Lady Bulldogsāat 1 p.m. this afternoon at Fight’n Maiden Field.
Jacksonville will bring an 8-8 record into the fray, with Corsicana coming in at 10-3.
The Maidens are sporting more pop in thier bats this year, led by power sluggers Taylor Whitaker and DaMonica Franklin. In other softball action, district play also continues today for teams from Bullard and Troup.
The Lady Panthers host Kilgore at 5:30 p.m. in a District 16-3A battle, while Class 2A’s No. 13 ranked Lady Tigers (17-4-2, 3-0) travel to Arp for an 11 a.m. District 18-2A tilt against the rival Lady Tigers.
The No. 6 (Class) 3A Rusk Lady Eagles will entertain Lindale at 3 p.m. this, in a non-district fray.
Rusk is scheduled to get rolling in District 19-3A by hosting Groesbeck at 7 p.m. on Mar. 19.
Jacksonville baseball has an open date tonight, while the Rusk nine are slated to visit Palestine at 7 p.m.
