Local junior linksters found the comforts of The Challenge at The Woods to be to their liking on July 19.
Hunter Shattuck of Jacksonville won the boys 14-15-year-old division by firing a 8-over par 79.
Shattuck easily out distanced himself from the runner-up, Justin Largent of Rusk who tallied an 87.
Another Rusk golfer, Brandon Downs, finished one stroke back in the boys 16-18-year-old grouping.
He shot a 5-over par 76 for the day.
Luke Fause of Tyler came in first at 75.
Blake Ridgeway came in fourth at 79 while Harrison Dukes carded an 87 to claim fifth place. Ridgeway and Dukes are both Bullard natives.
Jacksonville’s Cameron Brown shot a 99 to come in third in the boys 14-15-year-old division, finishing nine strokes behind the winner, Sam Burton of Tyler.
In boys 7-9-year-old action, Jake Smelser of Troup took second by carding a 44 over nine holes, one stroke behind Wade Langley of Winnsboro.
Other first-place finishers include, Christopher Wilhelmi (Tyler) who fired a 46 (nine holes) to take top honors in boys 10-11-year-old play, Bailey Wagner (Lipan) who shot a 40 to win the girls 10-11-year-old division, Arp’s Macy Calicutt who wound up with a 120 in girls 12-14-year-old action.
Haley Mills out of Tyler captured the girls 15-18-year-old division by shooting an 80 and Abby Tillison, also of Tyler, had the low score (61 over nine holes) in girls 7-9-year-old play.
