The Jacksonville Fightin’ Maidens received a good bit of recognition as six team members were named to the District 14-4A elite list.

The Maidens, coached by Billie Walley, had one fIrst team choice, Alex Smith, a junior-opposite.

Lakeeya Taylor and Kaitlyn Arrington both picked up second team mention.

Taylor is a junior setter and Arrington, also a junior, plays middle blocker.

Three Maidens, all seniors, also wound up on the honorable mention roll.

They are, Lydia Boyd, a libero, Jessica Hunter, middle blocker and Brittany King, an outside hitter.

King, no doubt, summed up the feelings of many when asked for her thoughts on the achievement.

“It really feels good for Jacksonville volleyball to get recognized (in this way),” King said. “It’s been a long time coming.”
