Tribe JV fall to Eagles in season finale

Progress staff reports

LINDALE — A 25-yard touchdown run by Michael Waddell gave Jacksonville a 7-6 first-quarter lead, but two third-stanza scores by Lindale proved to be the eventual difference maker as the Eagles prevailed over the Indians 27-15 Thursday night in a game played at Eagle Stadium. The contest was the last regular-season game of the year for both schools.

The Eagles enjoyed a 14-7 advantage at the break as their second score of the game came on a long touchdown pass and the subsequent-successful two-point conversion.

Lindale’s pair of third-stanza scores pushed the Eagles out to a 27-7 lead after three.

But, the Indians refused to roll over, as Rodrigo Carreon returned the enduing kickoff 85 yards for a quick Jacksonville touchdown. Waddell lassoed a toss from Brian Fuqua on the two-point try as the Tribe reduced the Eagle lead to 27-15 at that point.

Jacksonville’s comeback bid ended unsuccessfully when the Tribe failed to recover the onside kick that came following the last Indian touchdown.

The Tribe JV end the year with a 4-5-1 slate.
