Region XIV women: Paris upsets Jacksonville College

PARIS, Texas — There were two upsets in Region XIV women's basketball action Wednesday night, with Paris Junior College's 58-54 victory over Jacksonville College being one of them.

In a less stunning upset, San Jacinto knocked off Panola, 69-56.

Prior to Wednesday the Lady Jags (12-11, 5-5 Region XIV) were making a run at the top rungs of the standings ladder, but after the loss the Lady Jags slipped ito fifth place in the conference standings — Paris (7-15, 2-8) improved to eighth with the win.

The Lady Jags had a couple of chances to tie the game inside the final minute but couldn't the shots to fall.

JC's Khadijah Carter led all players with 23 points.

The Lady Jags return home to take on the Dallas Diesel semi-pro team at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
