The Brook Hill girl’s and boy’s hoops groups picked big road wins over Richardson-Canyon Creek in District 4, Division III TAPPS play on Friday night at the Canyon Creek Youth Activity Center.
The Lady Guard (12-9;4-2), had four players in double digits led by a 15-point and 21 rebound effort from Samantha Anderson in the 61-30 win.
The boys chalked up another league win in convincing fashion with a 55-34, win in the finale of the night behind six, 3-pointers and 24-points from Grant Hanks. Brook Hill boy’s improves to 5-1 in league play.
District play continues on Tuesday night as Brook Hill travels to play McKinney Christian in a boys’ and girls’ doubleheader. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m. and the varsity boys to follow at 7 p.m.
Dallas Lutheran will play at Richardson Canyon Creek next Tuesday night.
Girls
Bullard-Brook Hill 61, Richardson-Canyon Creek 30
The Lady Guard put four-players in double-digits in the 61-30 win over the winless Lady Cougars.
Sophomore post, Samantha Anderson, and freshman Charlie Niles controlled the boards, and added 15-, and 12-points points in the win. Anderson snagged 21 rebounds and made seven blocks. Niles added 15 rebounds and four steals
Senior Alyssa Eden canned a baseline jumper at the buzzer of the first period for a 20-2 lead.
Eden finished out the game with 11-points and chipped in with nine rebounds on the night.
Avery Langemeier had a hot-hand from long distance canning three treys and finishing with 10-points and nine rebounds.
Her four-point play in the final quarter staked a 53-25 lead, with two-minute remaining in the game.
Morgan Fore finished up the Brook Hill scoring with two of her eight-points in the contest.
Boys
Brook Hill 55, Canyon Creek 34
In a battle of the 4-1 teams in the district, Brook Hill’s Grant Hanks went downtown with six, 3-pointers, scoring all 24-points in the first three quarters to lead the way to the Guard win, and a 5-1 league ledger.
Sophomore guard, Grant Hank canned back-to-back 3-pointer to stake the Guard to a 27-17 lead at the half. Hanks finished up the game with 24-points and six assists.
The second half would be more Guard as Hale continued his assault with 10-points in the quarter of his game-high totals.
The third-ranked Guard spread out the scoring with Chase McDermott adding 12-points, Alex Halle chipped in with 12-points and Jake Anderson added six-points and seven rebounds.
Canyon Creek’s struggles from the field continued as well due to a stout guard defense, scoring the first second half points three-minutes into the stanza, and trailing Brook Hill, 38-19 with a Jalen Johnson basket.
Johnson was the top-scorer for the Cougars (4-2), with 15-points in the setback.
