Volleyball roundup: Lady Panthers hand Gilmer first league loss; Troup wins over rival Arp

BULLARD —  Powered by the offensive fireworks of Mackenzie Fish, Meredith Daly and Hana Woyt, the Bullard High School volleyball team notched its first District 16-3A win by serving Gilmer its first conference defeat Friday afternoon at Panther Gymnasium.

The final score was 3-2 (25-23, 24-26, 27-25, 18-25, 15-13).

Fish logged a double-double (16 kills, 22 digs) to go with her five service aces.

Daly's front-line play was stellar as she came away with 11 kills and seven blocks.

Woyt slammed down 8 spikes and contributed eight blocks assists, giving the Lady Panthers (1-3 in district) a strong one-two-three punch.

Madi Hodges and Lexi Abercrombie led the squad in digs with 18 and nine, respectively.

Bris Ridgley racked up 28 assists to compliment her two service aces.

The Lady Buckeyes are 3-1 in loop play.

Sub-varsity: The Bullard JV stopped Gilmer 2-0 (25-14, 25-13), with Maddy Slayter and Rachel Kelley leading the Lady Panthers.

Bullard made it a clean sweep by polishing off the Lady Buckeyes in the freshman match 2-0 (25-15, 25-17).

Sarah Wakefield and Katie Bell were players of impact for the 9th-grade Lady Panthers, who are now 4-0 in conference play.

Troup trips up Arp, 3-1

ARP — Lauren Littlfield had 13 kills, two blocks and five digs to spark the Troup Lady Tigers to a 3-1 (25-12, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22) non-district win over rival Arp on Friday.Taylor Burnett had six spikes, three blocks  and one dig, while Alicia Summers added 10 assists and 15 digs.

Lady Guard derailed by All Saints

TYLER — In a non-district match involving area TAPPS volleyball powers All Saints Episcopal thumped Bullard 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-17) on Friday. Katrina Kastmo had 16 kills for the Lady Trojans.

Maidens fall victim to Lady Lions in league lid lifter

TYLER — Jacksonville dropped its District 16-4A opener against John Tyler by a 3-0 score on Friday afternoon at The Lions Den.

The Maidens (10-18, 0-1) will entertain Nacogdoches at 7 p.m. this evening.
