Kilgore takes advantage of six Maiden errors in loop opener

JACKSONVILLE — Kilgore cashes in on six Jacksonville fielding miscues as the Lady Bulldogs post a 4-2 win over the Maidens in the District 14-4A opener played in Jacksonville Friday night. The Lady Bulldogs (6-11, 1-0) scored two runs in the third and seventh innings, taking advantage of three Jacksonville (10-9-2, 0-1) errors in each frame. Becca Stokes turned in an outstanding effort for Kilgore, going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and coming on in relief and picking up a save. Stokes worked the final-two frames, striking out six of the eight Maidens that she faced while allowing just one hit. Katelyn Standley led Jacksonville at the plate by going 3-for-3 (all doubles). The freshman catcher also drove in a run,scored a run and stole two bases. Val Kornegan earned the win in the circle while Mackenzie Crow was the hard-luck loser. Crow allowed just four hits, struck out four and walked four in seven innings of work. Jacksonville travels to Lindale on Tuesday.
