Lady Cards' come up short against No. 1-ranked Jefferson

Region XIV women's champion loses, 78-68

SALINA,Kan —  Trinity Valley Community College's bid for a women's basketball national championship ended Thursday evening as No. 1-ranked Jefferson College (Mo.) iced the Lady Cards, 78-68.

The game was a second round matchup in the NJCAA Women's Championship Tournament (Salina, Kan.).

The Vikings (31-1) out performed TVCC, the Region XIV champions, at the charity line, knocking down 16 free throws to just seven by the Lady Cards (29-6) to take the win.

Porsha Porer led the Vikings in scoring with 23 points.

Jefferson finished second, losing to Central Arizona, in last year's national tournament.

TVCC will face either Casper (Wyo) or Central Arizona in a winner's bracket consolation contest on Friday.
