JACKSONVILLE —
The Rusk Dixie Angels softball team finished second at the Dixie Angle Division X-Play state tournament, held earlier this month in Bonham.
The host Bonham Lady Warriors dealt the Dixie Angles a 9-7 setback in the championship game to take the championship.
Rusk and Bonham had split two previous meetings in the tournament.
Dixie Angel players include, Meagan Beene, Merle Besson, Lauren Boudreaux, Taylor Collins, McKenna Driver, Molleigh Issacs, Claire Kellis, Macey Perry, Lexie Powers, Livia Sessions, EmmaLee Shaw and Abby Teutsch.
Rusk was coached by Jill Boudreaux, Kevin Shaw and Kely Boudreaux.
With the win, Bonham advanced to the X-Play World Series in Troy, Ala.
