Summit sends Maidens packing from state playoffs

JHS girls fall 45-31 in bi-district round

MABANK — Jacksonville came up short and fell 45-31 to Mansfield Summit on Monday night at the Mabank High School Gymnasium.

The game was a Class 4-A, Region II, bi-district encounter.

The Lady Jaguars (22-12) will advance to play the winner of tonight's Texas High versus Wylie game.

Jacksonville, the third-place team out of District 16-4A, saw its season end with a 18-16 record.

The Lady Jags dominated all phases of the game and strolled out to a 20-8 halftime lead.

Following  a basket by Chancii Scott at the 3:31 mark of the third frame, the Maidens cut the Lady Jag advantage to 10 points, 25-15, but a 10-3 Summit run to close the period was too much for the Maidens to overcome.

Scott and Jasmine Parson scored 11 each for the Maidens.

Keanna Kelley led Summit in scoring with 15 points.
