16-3A Baseball: Bullard out slugs Kilgore to open loop play

BULLARD — The Bullard Panthers opened up the District 16-3A baseball race, leading 12-1 and holding on for a 12-8, win over Kilgore on Tuesday night at Panther Field.

Starting pitcher, Cody Goode held the Bulldogs bats, scattering six hits in the win. Goode retired two by strikeout, and walked only one through the first four innings.

The Bulldogs avoided the 10-run mercy rue down 12-1, with the big 5-run inning and a 12-6 score. Four straight hits aided the Bulldogs fifth-inning rally.

Bullard lead-off hitter, Holden Bryant sparked the Panthers offense going 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, three bases stolen and a run scored.

Jesse Duplechin and Weston Gray each scored twice for the Panthers, while Conner Mebane and Jacob Provencher joined Gray with two hits apiece.

Benny Colbert went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Kilgore and teammate, A.J. ‘Monsta’ Davis led Kilgore with two hits, and one run scored.

Bullard (11-3; 1-0), will travel to play at Gladewater, Thurs., 6 p.m. Kilgore  (2-11; 0-1), will have an open date.
