Rusk Football Camp set to begin June 8
RUSK — The Rusk Football Camp will take place from 8:30 -11:30 a.m. on June 8-11. Campers will be divided into two groups, 7-9-years old and 10-12-years old, with each group working separately for competitions, but working together for skills instruction. Each day of camp there will be a leadership/character lesson along with a competition for each age group with the winner receiving an award at the end of the day. Campers will learn offensive, defensive and special teams strategy as well as the fundamental techniques of playing their offensive and defensive positions. Cost of the camp is $50 per child ($25 for siblings). All campers will receive a t-shirt and a water bottle. The annual Tomato Town (tennis) Open will take place on June 12-13 at the Jacksonville High School Tennis Courts. Deadline for entries is June 7. Entry fees are $20 for adult first event, $20 for junior first event and $10 for second events. Action will take place in adult doubles (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5), adult mixed doubles (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0. and 4.5). Junior singles will play in 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18-year-old groupings while junior mixed doubles will be contested in 14 & under, and 18 & under. Entries may be combined if less than four entries per event. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners as well as consolation bracket winners and door prizes will also be provided. Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tour launches on June 7
LONGVIEW — The Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tour will begin its 18-stop journey on June 7 at the Longview Country Club. The tour includes a July 15 tournament at Bullard’s Oak Hurst Country Club and will conclude on Aug. 9 at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview. Membership applications are now being accepted and call-ins and walk-ups are welcomed. Membership and tournament fees can be paid the day of the event. East Texas Spirit holding open

TYLER — The East Texas Spirit Soccer Club will hold open practices from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and also on June 14, 21 and 28. Practices are free and open to boys born between Aug. 1, 1995 and July 31, 1997 who are interested in playing soccer at the club or competitive level.
