JHS JV baseball: Tribe post multiple wins at Brownsboro tourney

BROWNSBORO —  The Jacksonville junior varsity baseball team posted several wins at the Brownsboro Tournament last week with a handful of Indians having memorable games.

The Tribe (5-5-1) started things off by defeating Canton, 6-4.

Lekendrick Anderson turned in a rock-solid effort on the hill for the Indians to collect the win.

Joshua Cuba and Brad Triplett led Jacksonville at the plate.

After falling to Brownsboro, 6-3, the Tribe came back with a vengeance and slammed Palestine, 14-2.

Cuba garnered the win on the hump for the Tribe.

Jacksonville played particularly well on defense in this game, according to Indian coaches, with Jesse Gobea having made a couple of highlight-reel worth grabs in the outfield.

Luis Morales was the leading hitter for the Indians in the game.

Next, Jacksonville eked out a 6-5 victory over Mineola.

Emilio Chavira and Anderson combined forces on the mound for the Indians.

In its final game of the tournament on Saturday, Jacksonville smoked the Yellowjackets of Mineola, 9-1.

Brandon Lavender had a run-scoring smash single down the left field line to highlight the Tribe's offensive effort.

Triplett picked up the pitching win for the Indians.

The Tribe JV will host Nacogdoches at noon on Monday.
