JACKSONVILLE —
STILLWATER, Okla. — Former Bullard Panther great Charlie Moore probably feels like a man whose time has finally arrived.
Coming off a dominating performance in the Oklahoma State University spring game, Moore, a 6-foot-2, 202-pound wide receiver, is now expected to be one of the Cowboys' top pass catchers this season — the Cowboys are scheduled to begin their 111th season of football by opening the regular season at 6 p.m. Saturday against visiting Savannah State University.
Moore, a junior, played in each of the Cowboys' games in 2011. He caught three balls for 56 yards and contributed from time to time on special teams where he was credited with six tackles.
OSU graduated three of its top pass catchers from a year ago, including Justin Blackmon, a first-round NFL draft pick this spring, which makes way for Moore and others to step up into the vacancies.
According to information supplied by OSU, Moore, and transfer Blake Jackson, are the two receivers that are being looked counted on to produce handsome dividends this fall.
As a freshman in 2010, Moore saw duty in a dozen of the Cowboys' games where he reeled in four catches for just under 60 yards.
He was on the receiving end of a 27-yard touchdown toss from Clint Cheif in a game against Tulsa.
Moore was a red shirt in 2009, his first season in Stillwater.
At Bullard he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and track and field.
Moore is the son of Scott and Anita Moore.
