KILGORE —
The Lady Jaguars of Jacksonville College will Visit Kilgore College at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Region XIV opener for both clubs.
The Lady Jags are 6-6 on the year, and will enter play coming off of a home loss to the Dallas Diesel last Friday.
The JC ladies are coached by Lynn Nabi.
The Lady Rangers, who are under the direction Roy Thomas, are 4-2 on the year.
KC nipped McClennen College 64-62 in its last game, which was played on Tuesday night..
JC has two single-digit losses to McClennen this season.
This game could turn out to be a battle between the big girls.
JC is led in scoring by Khadija Carter, who leads the league in scoring (19.6 ppg) and Susan Agesen who adds right at 14 ppg.
Both are freshmen posts.
The Lady Rangers should counter with a pair of sophomore bigs that are, likewise, off to fast starts this year.
Center Amanda Lawson tops out with 15.5 ppg for the Lady Rangers, while forward Victoria Billingsley pours in almost 14 ppg., giving KC a nice one-two punch from down low.
It is important to the JC women to open conference play on a solid note.
“We have been working hard in practice trying to get ready to play Kilgore,” Carter said “We want to start out strong in conference.”
