Taylor's walk off single sends Maidens to victory

Taylor, Cox and Finch lead JHS girls at the plate

JACKSONVILLE — Paityn Taylor singled up the middle, driving in courtesy runner, Alex Barrientos, from third base, in the bottom of the seventh inning to spark Jacksonville to a 9-8 non-district win over Brownsboro Thursday night.

The Maidens (10-8-2) tralied 8-6 going into their final at bat after the Bearettes (7-5) rallied to score five runs in the top-half of the seventh frame to move ahead.

The Jacksonville rally began with  one out and was started when Sarah Cox and Kali Finch forged out back-to-back singles, both shots whizzing past the Brownsboro shorthstop's right side.

Mackenzie Crow then drew a walk to load the bases for the Indian girls.

Elisha Holcomb calmly stepped into the box and drove a one ball, one strike offereing into the gap in right field for a double which brought Cox and Finch in to score.

Taylor then had her turn at the plate and didn't disappoint by collecting her second hit of the evening to send the Jacksonville faithful home wiht a smile on their faces.

Taylor, Cox and Finch each had a pair of hits to lead the Maidens at the plate.

Holcomb had three RBIs in the game and Katelyn Standley blasted a RBI-producing triple in the fourth inning. Standley just missed stroking an over-the-fence home run in the sixth inning also..

The Bearettes were led at the dish by Allie Palmer who went 2-for-4.

Crow picked up the complete-game win in the circle for Jacksonville while Taylor McIntyre sustained the loss for Brownsboro.

Crow, allowed five hits, walked seven and fanned five.

Jacksonville committed five errors in the game while the Bearettes played mistake-free ball.

The Maidens host Crockett at 6 p.m. tonight at Fightin' Maiden Field..
