New Summerfield dismantles hapless Karnack, 82-27

NEW SUMMERFIELD — After a slow start to the 2012-13 season, the New Summerfield Hornets seem to be gaining a little bit of traction now.

Fresh off a third-place finish at the Frankston-Azalea Orthopedic Classic over the weekend, head coach Jason Davis' club went out and creamed Karnack, 82-27, for the Hornets' biggest win of the year.

Austin Gray, New Summerfield's senior point guard, led all players with 20 points.

Angel Marroquin and Wendle Thomas also turned in big efforts in scoring 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Freshman post Case Wilkerson added eight points while Ryan Weaver and Francisco Parra finished up with seven apiece for the Hornets (3-9).

The Hornets were schedule to return to the court at 10:30 a.m. today where they were to have faced rival Rusk in opening-round action of the Central Heights Tournament.

The Hornets will face either Chisolm or Central Heights at 7:30 p.m. this evening.
