JACKSONVILLE —
The Jacksonville College Jaguars have decided to bring back Daniel Skinner (Lancaster, Texas), a forward who last played for the Jags during the 2009-10 campaign, for the 2012-13 season.
As the result of some off-the-court issues, Skinner has been away from the game since he last played for JC.
“In time this could turn out to be a good rehab story,” Bailey said. “Fortunately, we serve a God who gives second chances.
“Sometime 18 and 19-year-olds make mistakes due to immaturity. What's important is where a person's heart is and I believe that Daniel's heart is in the right place now and that he wants more than anything to start fresh and return to Jacksonville College.”
Bailey said that he was recently on a recruiting trip in the Dallas area and a high school coach that was familiar with Skinner asked Bailey to consider having Skinner return to the Jags.
“We talked, and the coach called Daniel and within five minutes he (Skinner) was standing in front of me; that's how sincere he is about wanting to come back to Jacksonville College and play basketball,” Bailey said.
Bailey concluded by saying that it is JC's mission to challenge minds and transform lives and that by giving Skinner a second chance, the school will have an opportunity to practice what it preaches.
Skinner, a power forward, will have one year of eligibility left.
