HOUSTON — Jacksonville College basketball teams were in action Saturday evening in the greater Houston area, with both the Lady Jaguars and their male counterparts notching precious Region XIV road victories.
The JC women got past San Jacinto 71-64 — JC led 35-26 at intermission — while the Jaguars routed the Ravens, 90-76.
Precious Herrin led all scorers in the women’s tilt by scoring 22 points for the Lady Jags, who end a three-game league losing streak with the win.
Rayvin Miller added 19 points followed by Emily Fouse with 17 for JC.
Completing the point production for JC was Tiesha Martin with eight, Jamie Johnson with four and Cassandra Moody who tossed in two points.
The Lady Jags are now 12-11, 5-7 in Region XIV, while the Gators slip to 6-18, 2-11.
The Jags (12-12, 6-7) gained ground in the South Zone standings as a result of their 14-point upset over the Ravens (20-4, 9-4).
JC’s men have now won three of their last four league outings.
Both JC squads return home to face Angelina on Wednesday night. The women’s contest will tip off at 5:30, followed by the men’s game.
