BRYAN —
The Rusk Lady Eagles opened the 2013 season over the weekend by finishing seventh in the 64-team Bryan-College Station Tournament.
The Lady Eagles went 4-2 in the three-day event and were the highest finishing Class 3A team in the field.
Sydney Littlejohn (a University of Alabama signee) pitched a perfect game in her team's 4-0 win over Richland on Friday.
Rusk also picked up wins over Magnolia (7-3), San Antonio Holmes (5-0) and Bryan (8-6).
The Lady Eagles' loss came to Schertz Clemens (3-0) and to the Lady Deer of Deer Park (5-0).
Rusk opens the home portion of its schedule by hosting state-ranked Henderson tonight at 7 p.m. at Lady Eagle Park.
The projected pitching match-up calls for Littlejohn to go up against Henderson ace and Texas-Austin signee Tiarra Davis.
