Softball scrimmage results from Friday

Maidens and Lady Eagles look good in final dress rehersals

JACKSONVILLE — Although a final score was not available, Jacksonville head softball coach Amber Danner-Kirk reported that her squad is "fired up" and ready for its regular season opener next weekend in the Longview Tournament after the Maidens wrapped up thier exhibition schedule at home against Class A Kennard on Friday,

Danner-Kirk said her girls played well on defense as well as on the offensive side.

Sydney Chandler hurled two solid innings for Jacksonville while senior Mackenzie Crow came in and logged three nice innings as well.

Chandler also ripped a home run for the Maidens.

Rusk swept past perrennial powers Hallsville and Shreveport Evangel in scrimmage action that took place at Ladycat Park in Hallsville.

The Lady Eagles topped Hallsville 3-1 and shut out Evangel 1-0.

Rusk opens the regular season at home (7 p.m.) on Tuesday night. Lufkin Hudson will provide the opposition.
