Prep boys hoops: All area teams on the road today; NS, BH have open dates

JACKSONVILLE — Fans of high school boys basketball will have to take to the highway today if they are to catch any of the area teams in action as Jacksonville, Rusk, Bullard and Troup travel for their respective encounters this afternoon and evening.

New Summerfield and Brook Hill have open dates this evening.

Class 4-A's No.14-ranked Jacksonville Indians will be looking to go to 22-0 when they pay a visit to Palestine to take on the Wildcats (6-9).

Both teams have a common opponent in Brownsboro.

The Wildcats defeated the Bears 47-44 on Dec. 18 and the Tribesmen edged Brownsboro, 61-56, on Nov. 24.

Tip off should take place around 4:30 p.m., with the 9th-grade game opening the triple header at 2 p.m.

Rusk also has a rare matinee scheduled for this afternoon also.

The Eagles will be in Grapeland to test the state-ranked (Class A) Sandies at 3:30 p.m.

Bullard  (9-11, 0-1) treks to Gladewater for a District 16-3A battle.

The Panthers will be looking to snuff out a three-game losing streak when they engage the Bears.

Troup will also continue conference play tonight by going to Arp for a 7:30 p.m. date with the rival Tigers.

Troup will carry a 5-4 overall record into the game. The Tigers are 2-0 in District 18-2A outings.
