DALLAS —
Oklahoma State welcomed in 2013 by mashing Purdue 58-14 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, played Tuesday afternoon in the Cotton Bowl.
The Cowboys (8-5) torched the Boilermaker defense for five touchdowns through the air, with the first of those scoring receptions taking place when former Bullard High School standout Charlie Moore caught a 4-yard strike from Cowboy quarterback Clint Chelf, who tossed three of his team's touchdown passes.
Moore, a 6-foot-2, 202-pound slot receiver, ended up with four catches on the day, totaling 42 yards.
His longest catch was good for a 28-yard Cowboy gain.
OSU led comfortably (28-0) at intermission.
The Cowboys built a 45-0 lead on the 34-degree day before Purdue (6-7) finally broke the scoring ice at the 1:11 mark of the third frame.
The win was OSU's biggest bowl win since its 62-14 whipping of Wyoming in the 1988 Holiday Bowl.
Cowboy head coach Mike Gundy was starting quarterback for OSU in that game.
Purdue slipped to 0-4 in New Year's Day bowls.
OSU's 58 points was the most scored at a bowl game at Cotton Bowl Stadium since the 55 points that Southern Cal put up against Texas Tech in 1995.
