BULLARD — The excitement of hosting a TAPPS football game quickly faded as the season ended here Friday night for the Brook Hill Guard.
Colleyville Covenant bolted to a quick 28-7 lead and held on for a 41-21 TAPPS Division IV regional playoff win at Herrington Stadium.
Brook Hill’s powerful ground attack was held to just 130 yards after averaging 360 yards per game during the regular season.
Top running back for Guard, freshman Julius Johnson, was held scoreless and rushed for 74 yards. In his first nine games of varsity football he accounting for more than 1,900 yards.
Colleyville proved why it was the defending state champion as they scored four times in the first half. The lone score first half score for Brook Hill came on a 35-yard pass from John Carroll to Zak Davis. Austin Sperry booted the extra point.
The Guard defense could not stop Dillion Hess of Colleyville who rushed for more than 150 yards and four touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass.
Ross Nichols added a touchdown run for Brook Hill. The final score for the Guard was a 40-yard pass from Nichols to Preston Swink.
The season ends for Brook Hill with a 6-4 record and a district title under first year head coach Jim Klaczak.
Colleyville, now 8-3, continues in the playoffs. They will meet either Bryan St. Joseph or Halletsville Sacret Heart.

Paris Junior College took advantage of Lon Morris College's thin ranks — the Bearcats dressed just nine men out (due to injuries) for Wednesday's Region XIV game — by dispensing an 83-66 loss to the 'Cats at the Smith Events Center.
