ALTO — Defensively she plays like a human vacuum cleaner, scooping up just about every ball that comes her way. And, she also sparks the Alto offense from her leadoff position in the batting order.

The many talents of Lady Jacket LaQuendal Tyler were recognized by the state’s coaches as the Alto senior second baseman was voted to the Class A All-State Team last week.

In her final game against Forsan, Tyler stroked a single up the middle to start off the first inning. The Lady Jackets went on to lose to the Lady Buffaloes 2-1 in the state championship game.

Tyler is also a member of the Lady Jacket 4X100-meter relay team, which finished third in the UIL state track and field championships Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin,
