The Jacksonville High School soccer teams had mixed results in recent action.
The Jacksonville Maidens fell 3-0 to Nacogdoches in the home opener. Kesli Brumber was the most valuable player in the defeat, according to JHS coach Howard Story.
Jacksonville also played in the recent Pine Tree tournament. The Maidens lost 3-0 Jan. 10 to the host school and 5-0 Jan. 11 to Whitehouse.
The game was costly to the lineup with last year’s leading scorer Samantha Melchor going down with a knee injury, possibly for the year.
Jacksonville also lost to the Caddo Magnets 3-1. The lone goal came by Jessica Torres off an assist by Carly Irby.
Irby and Maria Luna were named to the all-tournament team.
Jacksonville will play at 6 p.m. Friday at Jasper.
The Jacksonville Indians also competed in the Pine Tree tournament.
Jacksonville lost the first game 2-0 to Nacogdoches. The Indians rebounded to defeat Sulphur Springs 2-1 in Game 2 with goals by Brent Colvin and Alex Cabrales.
Daniel Forry had three goals as the Tribe downed Diboll 5-0 in Game 3. Scoring lone goals were Colvin and Arturo Garcia.
The Indians host Jasper in home action beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Tomato Bowl with the junior varsity game, to be followed by the varsity contest.
