HAWKINS — To win a game without scoring 30 points is amazing these days.
It is also a message to other teams that you have a strong defense.
The Jacksonville Maidens took a 29-20 win over Harmony in Saturday action in the Hawkins Classic.
“Our depth helped us, we played tough defense the entire game. We needed fresh legs late to keep up the pressure. I was also pleased with how we handled their zone defense,” said Tony Harris, Jacksonville Maidens head basketball coach.
The coach continued, “We got a lead and they had to foul. Harmony put the wrong person (Kiki Burrell) on the line. She made the shots for us.”
Jacksonville, 3-1 in district, will end non-district play and face Kilgore Friday.
Score by quarters
Jacksonville 9-5-5-10-29
Harmony 7-6-7-0-20
Jacksonville scorers- Kiki Burrell, 13; Jessica Hunter, 6; Victoria Abu, 6; Sharae Sanders, 2; Vanity Darty, 1; Brittney King, 1.
