After a seven-day lay off the Rusk High School softball team will return to the diamond at 7 p.m. tonight by hosting Groesbeck in the District 19-3A opener.
The Lady Eagles (13-2) last played on Mar.12 when Sydney Littlejohn, a University of Alabama signee, tossed a perfect game against Lindale.
The long and lean fire baller whiffed 14 Lindale batters in that outing.
The Lady Eagles moved up to No. 4 in the latest Texas Girls Coaching Association Class 3A poll, whcih was released Monday.
The Ashley Renner-coached Lady Eagles will hit the road Friday for a 7 p.m. game against Mexia.

The last ride of the night turned out to be the most spectacular ride of the evening Wednesday night when Austin Meier scored an 87 for his ride atop "Rainbow" in the final segment of bull riding on the opening night of the Tops In Texas PRCA Rodeo.
