JACKSONVILLE —
Non-district volleyball action is slated to take place in Jacksonville, Bullard and Troup tonight, with local and area teams quickly approaching the start of their respective conference matches.
Only the Rusk Lady Eagles are on the road this evening.
Rusk journeys to White Oak for a tri-match against the Lady 'Necks and John Tyler.
Jacksonville (6-9) will welcome Carthage to town for a 7 p.m. match at the JHS Gymnasium.
The Lady Bulldogs (12-2) bullied the Maidens 2-0 (25-18, 25-18) in the Groveton Tournament over the weekend.
Jacksonville will visit Troup on Friday (5:30 p.m.) in what is to be the first of a string of road matches — the JHS girls will not return home until Sept. 7 when Palestine comes to town.
Bullard (5-6) fell to Troup, 3-2, on Friday in the Lady Panthers' latest outing.
Meredith Daly turned in 10 kills and four blocks to lead Bullard.
Bri Ridgley came away with 13 assists and Mallory McCoy pitched in nine assists.
Defensively, Madi Hodges notched 16 digs and Kenzie Fish contributed nine kills and three service aces for the Lady Panthers.
Bullard returns home at 7 p.m. tonight to host Palestine.

JHS Spring Football Scrimmage: Game ends in a 107-107 deadlock
After two live quarters and a pair of 10-minute running-clock periods the first Jacksonville Blue vs. White spring football scrimmage since 2004 ended in a 107-107 tie Friday night at Tomato Bowl.

Fight'n Indians set to scrimmage tonight
Jacksonville High School will be wrapping up spring football practice by staging a Blue vs. White scrimmage at 6 p.m. this evening at Tomato Bowl.

Tops In Texas PRCA Rodeo: Meier earns 87-point rid on 'Rainbow'
The last ride of the night turned out to be the most spectacular ride of the evening Wednesday night when Austin Meier scored an 87 for his ride atop "Rainbow" in the final segment of bull riding on the opening night of the Tops In Texas PRCA Rodeo.
