JACKSONVILLE —
Firework displays are but a fading memory and the start of football fall drills is just under a month away, so that means it is time for Texas Teenage Baseball Association district tournaments to take center stage on the local sports docket.
One of those tourneys that will open on Monday will be hosted by the Jacksonville Baseball/Softball Association.
The Boys 12 Open Base tournament for District 11 will be held in town and will feature 10 teams, including the Jacksonville Cardinals and the Jacksonville Cubs.
Frankston's The Tribe will also be in the field, along with the Troup Rattlers.
Brownsboro-Murchinson-Chandler will have three entries — Rangers, Patriots and Red Sox — with clubs from Elkhart, Grapeland and Whitehouse also involved.
Sixteen boys are on the Cardinals' roster and they include, Bradley Robinson, Cade Chandler, Michael Tucker, Jacob Tucker, Alvinchi Francis and John Constancio.
Other team members are, Slade Shoemaker, Ricky Allen, Emelio Meza, Dominic White, Isaiah Ruth, Brennon Vanness and Jeremiah Neal.
Pickup players are Matthew Nabi from the Indians' roster and two former Reds, Izayah Mayfield and Micha Beale.
Ben Robinson is the Cardinals' head coach.
Barry Gill's Cubs team is made up of Kendall Gill, Clint Hawkins, Tanner Chandler, Landon Williams, Dillon Haltom, Will Chancey and Joydasion Thompson.
Also playing for the Cubs are, Benjamin Mendoza, Christopher Galvan, Taylor Valentine, River Payne, Ashton Johnston and Sean Driskell.
Add on players, all former Reds, are Canyon Thiel, Jayden Little and Jessie Whitten.
The winner of the District 11 tourney will advance to the state tourney, which will be played at Coleman Park in Athens starting on July 23.
Jacksonville qualifies Giants, Brewers for 10U District 14 tourney
In the 10U division, the Jacksonville Giants and the Jacksonville Brewers will join six additional clubs beginning Monday in Troup, with a berth into the state tournament in Killeen awaiting the winner.
Filling out the brackets will be, the Elkhart Outlaws, Grapeland and four Whitehouse squads: Rangers, Braves, Nationals and Red Sox.
Team members for the Glenn Vess-coached Giants are: Brayden Vess, Desmond Fuller, Cayden Lyons, Abraham Gobea, Caleb McGarity and Connor Crowe.
Hoyt Campbell, Christian Saurez, Clay Partin and Tyler Minter are also on the Giants' roster.
Pickup players include three former Jacksonville Rangers, Ethan Dowling, Josh Holcomb and Cody Dickerson.
The Brewers' roster consists of the following boys: Chris Sanchez, Emanuel Muniz, Uriel Martinez, Juan Pinuelas, Colton Hamilton, Joshua Durrett, Justin Hayes, Elian Velez, Victorian High and Jose Montes.
Add on players are Logan Sanford from the Reds and a pair of ex-Rangers, Pacey Pinckard and Carson Cleaver.
The Brewers are under the guidance of Miguel Muniz.
Cardinals, Pirates to represent J'ville in 6U T-Ball event
The District 12 6U T-ball tourney will be hosted by Whitehouse and will include both the Jacksonville Cardinals and the Jacksonville Pirates.
Along with the Gators, red sox and warriors form Whitehouse, the Troup Jags will also be included in the six-team field.
The tourney winner will punch a ticket into the state tourney, which will be played in Temple.
Playing for coach Bobby Robinson's Cardinals are: Lakyn Robinson, Oliver Cumbie, Payton Dison, Kaden Franklin, Dayton Jones, Giovani Lara and Joseph Meza.
Other team members include, Hunter Nance, Audrey Parsons, Noah Smith, Max Briley and Coen Devillier.
Pickup members are, Landen Hoffpauir and Hayden Thompson off of the Jacksonville Red Sox ledger.
Coach Jay Jordan will pilot a Pirate squad that includes, Taniyah Black, Samuel Jordan, DeJun Hinton, Ty Lindsey, Kaden Marshall, Gavin Speed and Zackary Parent.
Additional players for the Bucs are, Alden McDonald, William Wright, Shawn Brumit, Connor Sessions, Luke Cundieff and Brayden Carliles.
Post-season add on players are, Karson Shoemaker and Ryan Walker from the Jacksonville Indians and Ryder Williams from the Jacksonville Red Sox.
The District 12 tourney is also slated to open on Monday.
