JACKSONVILLE —
Jacksonville got a solid effort from its girls as the Maidens won 6-of-9 singles and doubles matches as the Tribe tennis team successfully opened the fall season by getting past Longview 11-8 at the JHS Frances White Tennis Center on Saturday.
Melody Melvin, Brianna Beaver and Suzi McCuistion all notched victories in singles play while the doubles teams of Melvin & Niesha Nays, Alicia Coronilla & Ellie Day and Beaver & Amber Morris won their respective doubles matches.
Jacksonville (1-0) also posted five wins in boys singles play as Mercer Day, Kyle Crosby, Spencer Jay, Morgan Weaver and Eli Hugghins all downed their Lobo opponent.
The Tribe netters will get a head start on the District 14-4A season as they are slated to host John Tyler at 4 p.m. today.
Admission is free and the public is invited to come out and support the JHS tennis team.
