JACKSONVILLE —
Jacksonville High School played a trio of seven-on-seven football games at Lindsey Park in Tyler Saturday. The Indians lost their first game to the Lufkin Panthers 32-29 and lost their second to the Mount Pleasant Tigers 28-13.
However, they managed to turn things around in the third game to defeat the Marshall Mavericks 28-14.
“The team effort was better (in the last game),” Coach Morgan Guidry said. “I think the kids worked harder together for the win.”
Guidry said the team has made a lot of changes since the end of last season and it’s good to see the players adapting quickly.
“It’s an entirely new offense,” he said. “We’ve only been in this offense for about two-and -a- half months so we’re just trying to feel things out and see and get used to the changes. With hard work, hopefully we’ll be OK.”
Senior wide receivers Ladarius Session and Kedarrius Buckingham saw a lot of balls thrown their way, including several fades into the corners of the end zones.
“Yes sir, this team has a lot of big guys on it,” Guidry said.
Size like that is the kind of thing that will make the Indians a tough team to beat come the end of August.
