In a tune-up game following the Thanksgiving break, the Jacksonville College women's basketball team white washed the East Texas Flight travel team, winning 95-29 at the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening.
The win enabled the Lady Jaguars to improve to 6-5 on the year, which is the first time since opening day that the club has been above .500.
“Our team is playing well right now,” Jacksonville College head coach, Lynn Nabi, said. “I think we shell shocked them tonight.
“Tyler (Junior College) beat the East Texas Flight (by about) 80-50 not long ago, so we were expecting things to be more competitive.”
In other women's basketball news, the Lady Jags will host the Dallas Diesel AAU team at 8 p.m. on Friday, with the Jaguars opening things up against the Northwestern (La.) State JV team at 6:30 p.m.
The Jag Club will be sponsoring a post-game party in the cafeteria following the women's game.
The Lady Jags' game against Mountain View College of Dallas, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed until after the semester break (date and time to be announced).
Following Friday's game, the Lady Jags will be off until Region XIV play begins at 4 p.m. on Dec. 8 when the JC ladies are scheduled to visit Kilgore College.
