BULLARD —
The Brook Hill girl’s and boy’s hoops groups picked up district wins over Richardson-Canyon Creek in District 4, Division III TAPPS play on Tuesday night at the Herrington Sports Complex.
Samantha Anderson led the Lady Guard (10-6;2-0), to a 49-23 win, scoring 16 points, and grabbing 14 rebounds in limited playing time. The Brook Hill starters checked out at the 4:04 mark of the third quarter, returning sparingly as the bench played the youthful Lady Cougars (0-2).
The boys chalked up a league win in convincing fashion with a 79-49 win in the finale of the night behind four players in double-digits led by Chase McDermott’s 23-points.
District play continues on Friday night with McKinney Christian traveling to play at Brook Hill in a boys’ and girls’ doubleheader. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m. and the varsity boys to follow at 7 p.m.
Girls
The weather outside was cold and icy. The Lady Guard took advantage of some ice-cold shooting in the first half from Canyon Creek to remain undefeated in district play.
The Lady Guard jumped to a 14-0 first quarter lead as Brook Hill point guard Morgan Moss made six of her 11-points in the game, sparking the defense with seven steals in the game.
Samantha Anderson had another double-double with 16-points and 14 rebounds to lead the way, scoring 10 in the first half, and a 31-2 cushion.
Canyon Creek finally got a first bucket with 20-seconds remaining in the second quarter on Alex Livingston’s lone basket for the Lady Cougars.
Lady Guard forward, Alyssa Eden knocked down a three-pointer and added 14-points, and six rebounds.

Boys
Chase McDermott kept it coming the whole game for Brook Hill, topping all scorers in the game with 23-points, and adding nine rebounds in the win.
The Guard evened up the district ledger at 1-1, jumping to a 21-8, lead after one quarter as McDermott hit a trey and scored seven, first quarter points. 10-points in the final period for McDermott sealed the win scoring eight of ten-points on a 12-point run and a 72-42 lead.
Brook Hill point guard, Grant Hanks directed the offense with six assists, five steals and five rebounds to go with five 3-pointers, and 15-points in the game.
Bryant Robinson came off the bench to join teammate, Alex Hale with 12-points apiece. Hale ended the first quarter and started the second quarter with thunder-dunks to put an emphasis on the early start and 36-23 halftime lead.
For Canyon Creek, Jalen Johnson hit three, 3-pointers and John Oliver played well inside as both led the Cougars with 16-points each.
