BULLARD —
The Brook Hill Guard handed T.K. Gorman a 65-50 loss, just the Crusades' third defeat in their last dozen outings, Saturday afternoon at the Herrington Sports Complex.
The game started off to be all Gorman as they led by ten-points twice in the opening quarter before the Guard got cranked up in the second quarter. Brandon Lackner scored six of his team-high, 14-points in the opening quarter for a 19-11, TKG advantage.
The Crusaders however went cold from the field scoring two-points in the first 4:10 of the second period. Meanwhile, 3-pointers by Alex Hale, Grant Hanks and Luke Humphries brought Brook Hill back for the first lead. Humphries trey gave the Guard their first lead at 26-23.
Bryant Robinson scored all six-points in the second quarter and was key rebounding for The Guard in the comeback.
Robinson rebounded and hit the follow up to begin a Brook Hill 24-9, second quarter output and a 35-28, lead at the half.
Gorman’s Ben Ashworth scored six of his 13-points in the game with a bucket to bring Gorman to within 35-30. However after two baskets by Grant Hanks and a trey from Andrew Swink, the Guard built a 43-34 lead that would never be in question the duration of the game.
Swink knocked down another trey in the quarter and scored eight of his 12-points as Brook Hill built a 53-42 lead after three quarters.
Brook Hill point guard, Hanks had 17 points with his three, treys, followed up with a good game inside with a double-double was Phillip Kitt with 14 points and ten rebounds.
