JHS-grad, Pate, takes over at Union Hill

UNION HILL — Former Jacksonville High School graduate, Ryan Pate, has been named as the new athletic director and head football coach at Union Hill High School.

The Union Hill board of trustees unanimously gave the green light to Pate's hiring during a meeting Thursday evening.

The 30-year-old Pate, who played football at Jacksonville his senior year, has been serving as an assistant football coach at Gilmer High School for the past seven seasons.

Pate, a graduate of East Texas Baptist University, will assume his new duties on April 5.

He replaces John Woodard who posted a 4-16 worksheet in two years at Union Hill.

Union Hill is a Class A school located in Upshur County.
