Lady Bearcats to host pair of Region XIV twinbills
The Lon Morris College softball team will, finally, get to play before the home fans as the Lady Bearcats host Alvin College at 1 p.m. today and Paris Junior College at 1 p.m. Saturday. Both dates are conference doubleheaders that are slated to take place at the LMC Softball Complex. LMC is 5-10 overall, 3-3 in Region XIV. Last weekend the Lady ‘Cats taveled to Longview for the Region XIV Round Robin, with the Lady ‘Cats winning four games over the weekend while losing three. LMC outlasted Blinn, 11-10, on Friday as Kelly Klein homered and drove in five runs while Shelby Harris added a two-run blast over the fence as well. Harris also got credit for the pitching win. In Friday’s second outing, LMC dropped an 8-2 decision to Alvin. On Saturday, LMC lost to San Jacinto (8-2), ripped Murry State (8-0) and toppled Lamar State-Port Arthur, 9-1. Play concluded on Sunday as the Green and White split a pair of contests, falling 8-0 to Galveston and bombing Coastal Bend by the same score. Other hitters of impact for the Lady ‘Cats include, Jordan Knight with two home runs and Mallory LaPoint who also had a round tripper.
Panthers clipped by Kilgore, 5-1
KILGORE — Kilgore scored three runs in the first-three innings to down Bullard, 5-1, Tuesday night at historic Driller Park in Kilgore. The Bulldogs (1-8) peeled off three-consecutive hits in the third stanza with a RBI-double by Jeffery Price capping things off. Nolan Rose led Bullard (7-4) at the plate by going 2-for-3. LSU-signee, Nick Rumbelow ,got the start and was pegged with the pitching defeat after working four innings. Tanner Bailey came on in relief in the fifth inning with Kilgore touching up Baily for its final-two tallies of the game. The Panthers are scheduled to play in the Van I-20 Classic this weekend.

The Jaguars from Jacksonville College outplayed host Navarro College for most of the night, but the Bulldogs came on strong in the final seven minutes and when the final horn had sounded at the Wolens Special Events Center, it was the 'Dogs that had secured the 71-68 victory.

Cold shooting spurts to open both halves of play was basically what prevented the Lon Morris College Lady Bearcats from handing the No. 19-ranked Paris Junior College Lady Dragons an upset on Wednesday evening at the Smith Events Center.
