RUSK — The River of Life Christian Center and school in Rusk will host a Storming the Gates weekend on Aug. 6-7.

The weekend will begin at 7 p.m. Friday night with the kick-off of worship.

“We will be hosting an all night worship session,” said Pastor Robert Corbell with River of Life. “Worship teams will be coming in at two hour intervals.

“The next morning at 10 a.m. we will be participating in door to door evangelism at the apartments in rusk.”

Corbell said that each year River of Life puts this weekend on, numerous souls are won to Christ.

“We really believe that we will change our community,” Corbell said. “We will sing and worship and enjoy fellowship all night, and we look forward to what God will do.”

Corbell said there are no barriers to break down for this weekend.

“People can come and stay for as long or a short awhile as they would like,” he said. “We will worship and pray and rest then worship and pray and rest the whole night. People can even bring their pillows.”

Corbell said included in the people leading worship will be a Christian rapper named “3J Flippo” and Jonathan Baldwin from International House of Prayer in Kansas City.

“If anyone would like to come and be a part of the worship or prayer, we’ll find a place to plug them in,” Corbell said.

According to Corbell, anyone wanting to participate is more than welcome.

Anyone with good ideas for dramas, skits, music, and any other way of sharing God’s love are welcome.

On Saturday morning, the groups will hand out sno-cones, and that afternoon hamburgers and hot dogs will be given away.
